Working a bit of impulse control and building positive associations with strangers. Dog came in here with a bite history and extreme reactivity. Used a little trick that I got from another trainer that has its origins in the hunting dog world. Utilizing a tether and a place mat, I am able to create an environment where the dog is likely to choose the behavior I want out of him which is laying calmly on the place mat. Once he makes that choice, I am able to promote that behavior and begin instilling it throughout various distractions. Behavior modification is my favorite aspect of training, what are some neat techniques you’ve learned over the course of your training journey?
